So you stay quiet.
Laugh when you do not feel like laughing.
Pretend you are okay.
Try harder to fit in.
A lot of us know that feeling.
Wanting to feel seen.
Wanting to know we matter.
But before we belong anywhere else,
we already belong to Jesus.

John 17:11b-19 | Jesus Prays For His Disciples
Jesus is with His disciples
on the night before the cross.
He knows they will soon feel confused
and alone.
And before He leaves them,
Jesus prays.
Not for an easy life.
Not for them to escape every uncomfortable situation.
He asks the Father to protect their hearts.
To hold them close in the truth.
Then Jesus says:
โI do not ask that you take them out of the world.โ
They will still face rejection.
Pressure.
Loneliness.
Suffering.
But they will not face it alone.
Jesus sends them into the world
loved, protected,
and already belonging to the Father.

Where This Gospel Meets Us Today
Sometimes the hardest part of life
is feeling unseen.
Feeling like nobody fully understands
what is happening inside us.
But Jesus does.
He sees the quiet sadness.
The love we keep giving.
The nights we lie awake thinking.
The effort it takes
just to keep showing up.
And still,
He stays close.
We belong to God,
even in a world
that does not always make room for our hearts.
ย
How to Live This Today
Today, stop trying so hard
to make everyone understand your heart.
Bring it honestly to Jesus instead.
Sit quietly for one minute and say:
โJesus, You already know me.
Help me rest in that.โ
ย
Scripture to Hold Today
โI guarded them and not one of them was lost.โ
โ John 17:12
What the Catechism Says
โIncorporated into the Church by Baptism, the faithful have received the sacramental character that consecrates them.โ
โ CCC 1273
Letโs pray.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Jesus,
sometimes we feel alone in our own hearts.
Thank You for knowing us fully.
Thank You for staying close to us.
Help us rest in Your love today.
Remind us
that we already belong to You.
Amen.
Even when this world makes us feel out of place, Jesus keeps a place for us in His heart where we belong.
